Skipping Stones was designed by Quiltworx in 2022 as an addition to our collection of patterns from the Fireworks Block Mixer Series. Foundation paper piecing, floating points, Template Layout Sheets, and curved paper piecing techniques for attaching the veins are all featured in these instructions. After the paper piecing is completed, traditional curved piecing is required to assemble the blocks. This quilt is fun to make and easily adapted to using strips and background fabric from your own stash if you like.

To increase the size of your Skipping Stones quilt, simply make more blocks. Making (7) additional 4-patch pieces would make a 101″ square quilt. This could be done by ordering in (1) additional set of replacement papers for this design. Additionally, if you double the yardage and make enough blocks to make the quilt twice the size, you would have (2) 24″ blocks left over that could be turned into 24″ pillows. A larger border around the outside would easily increase this quilt to a King size design.

Depending on your project, you may have leftover blocks. The pattern will have more information on what to do with your leftovers. (Hint: There are so many things!)
